The Wildlife Waystation has an edge.
Part of the purchase price of Hollywood Goes Wild wherever it is sold, will be donated to the non-profit Waystation, a unique sanctuary situated in the Angeles National Forest just north of Los Angeles. It is home, at any one time, to more than 1200 animals, reptiles and birds with annual operating costs in excess of $2,000,000.
This is a wonderful gesture from our neighbors, the Hollywood community, says Waystation founder, Martine Colette, who has overseen the 24-hour-a-day facility for the past 26 years, during which time the lives of more than 70,000 animals and birds have been saved.
The Wildlife Waystation has received previous support from Hollywood.
Drew Barrymore, Dyan Cannon, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnny Carson are supporters and sponsors of the Waystation.
Currently negotiations are going on with other International charities in order to enable us to release this CD worldwide.
Between 4500 and 5000 animals a year pass through the facility, either cared for or nursed back to health and returned to the wild. We receive no grants from federal or government sources and are entirely dependent on donations from outside benefactors as well as Waystation visitors and our own fundraising efforts.
Hollywood Goes Wild will be a tremendous boost.
HOLLYWOOD GOES WILD!
Hollywood Goes Wild features recordings by today's film stars on one album. These talented actors have joined together to share their music with the world. They have chosen to do so to help a very worthy charity, the Wildlife Waystation.
Since the early days of Hollywood, actors were expected to act, sing, dance, and even play instruments. In fact many of today's film stars started performing music early in their careers. Though the "Hollywood Goes Wild" participants became well known as actors first, they continued nurturing their other passion creating and recording music. The artists on this CD will forever be remembered for their amazing film work. However, they are now pleased to share with you their music; and thank you for helping a great cause.

Thank you for purchasing this CD! A portion of the money you spent will help the Wildlife Waystation rescue both native wildlife and exotic animals in crisis. Please take a moment to read about the organization you have supported.
Martine Colette, founder and president of the Wildlife Waystation, has devoted the majority of her life to rescuing and rehabilitating abandoned animals. Born in France, she spent her formative years in Nairobi, Kenya and became fascinated with wild animals while on non-hunting safaris with her father, a Belgian diplomat and naturalist. As a teenager, she worked in trapping camps, developing a reputation among the villagers as someone who could nurse animals back to health. Her work with exotic animals continued after moving to Hollywood in 1966.

Today, the Wildlife Waystation is the largest animal rescue sanctuary of its kind in the United States. Incorporated in 1977 by Martine Colette, the thriving organization is dedicated to a two-fold mission: (1) to rescue, rehabilitate, relocate and provide permanent sanctuary for native wildlife and exotic animals within the United States and abroad; and (2) to educate the public about the global plight of wildlife and the environment, as well as the intrinsic value of wildlife diversity, protection and preservation. Since the Waystation's inception, we have provided sanctuary to more than 75,000 abused, abandoned, unwanted and injured animals, including Siberian and Bengal tigers, lions, leopards, ligers, jaguars, mountain lions, wolves, wolf-hybrids, coyotes, foxes, primates, zebras, bears, reptiles, exotic birds, birds of prey and more. Currently, we receive approximately 4,500 animals annually through our Baby Animal Rehabilitation Program, as well as provide 24-hour care to 1,100 permanent residents.
· Biomedical Research Chimps - WW is home to more than 50 chimpanzees, the majority of whom were used for biomedical research. On October 23, 1995, nine chimpanzees arrived at the Wildlife Waystation, including SeeTee, Charlie Brown, Bold, Chaz, Ray, Lindsey, Spike Mulligan, Rufe and Booie. (Booie is famous for his ability to use American Sign Language and has appeared on ABC TV's "20-20.") In spring 1996, we received another eight chimpanzees and five baboons. The final shipment included approximately 35 chimpanzees-most under the age of 6-including Maudie, Billy, Mousse and Mystery. · Miss America & Miss Montana - These two grizzly bears-sisters-arrived at the Waystation in 1995 when they were 6-month-old cubs after a hunter shot their mom. Montana Fish & Game contacted the Waystation and transported them to Utah, where Martine met them and brought them to WW. They now live in captivity with their own swimming pool, which they enjoy immensely during the summer months. · Drifter is a Siberian tiger who arrived at the Waystation in 1997 when he was approximately 5 months old after being confiscated during a drug raid. He had been previously owned by drug dealers in Illinois who intended to use him as a "guard dog." Now almost 3 years old, Drifter weighs nearly 600 pounds and is considered the "star attraction" at the Waystation.
The Wildlife Waystation has organized many dramatic rescues throughout the years, including the following: · Idaho Lions & Ligers - In September 1995, the Waystation performed one of the largest mammal rescue operations in its entire history. USDA officials contacted Martine Colette about an undetermined number of lions and ligers living in deplorable conditions at an Idaho game farm called Ligertown. Several had already escaped and local authorities destroyed 18 of the free-roaming cats. Martine and her staff rescued the severely malnourished 24 lions and 3 ligers and transported them to the Waystation in five trucks. Their number increased shortly after their arrival with the birth of 8 lion cubs in three separate litters. Today they are happy and healthy on Idaho Lion Row.
"Hollywood Goes Wild" performer, Mare Winningham, notes: Dennis Quaid convinced me that this would be a fun way to stop being worried about the 'actress who sings' moniker and celebrate a good cause. Artists like me who are establishing themselves really benefit from being on compilations. Plus, these are people you want to rub elbows with in whatever way possible. To organize and strategize for the good of animals and people is a job that takes a big heart and dedication.
"We are deeply grateful to the celebrities who have put so much time and energy into making this CD possible. Now kick back and enjoy!
