Since eight years, the Christmas Concert at the Vatican is part of a benefit project, "50 Churches for Rome - Third Millennium", which raises funds in order to build 50 churches in the poorer suburbs of Rome.

Churches around the world are not only used as places of worship but also as community centers, keeping young people off the streets as well as helping senior citizens.
